Emergency contraception (EC) is a form of birth control that you can take up to 5 days (120 hours) after sex to help prevent a pregnancy. It can be helpful in lots of situations like if you had sex without using birth control, the condom broke, or you made a mistake with your method.
The sooner you take EC, the more effective it will be. Some types of EC are available without a prescription at any pharmacy. It is also available at the Annex.
